About Us

BIPOC PEEEEEEK: An international movement championed by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) parents and caregivers of children who are either receiving mental health services or have identified emotional health needs but are not yet connected to care.

Mission:
BIPOC PEEEEEEK empowers parents and caregivers to elevate their voices, educate each other, and eliminate disparities in mental health services for our children. We are committed to ensuring equitable access to and quality of emotional health care for BIPOC families.

Vision:
Build a supportive BIPOC network for parents and caregivers of children affected by mental illness or behavioral health issues.
Drive systemic change within behavioral health services to serve BIPOC children and families better.
BIPOC PEEEEEEK is a Partners In Community Development Inc. project spearheaded by Len Statham and BIPOC PEEEEEEK Founder and Visionary Sara Taylor. Our efforts are guided by a regional BIPOC Parent/Caregiver Ambassador Board.

Our Team

Our passionate team of BIPOC leaders, allies, and experts is dedicated to transforming mental health support for our communities.

Sara, a respected regional leader, and mental health advocate, founded PEEEEEEK after struggling to navigate the mental health system for her child. Her experience led her to unite with other parents to address systemic inequities and promote culturally responsive care. As the founder of the Upstate NY Women of Color Summit, Sara is dedicated to empowering and advocating for marginalized communities. Her work has earned accolades, such as the Athena Finalist and Health Care Hero awards. Sara holds a master’s degree in human service administration and has extensive leadership training.

Len Statham oversees fiscal and program management at Partners in Community Development, which serves five low-income housing communities in Monroe County, New York. He is crucial in promoting community, empowerment, and wellness among residents. As Chief Operating Officer at the Alliance for Rights and Recovery (formerly NYAPRS), Len leverages his experience with long-term recovery to drive the organization’s growth and sustainability. He excels in training, technical assistance, and advocacy, supporting employment and recovery services for individuals facing mental health, addiction, and trauma challenges. His impact extends statewide and nationally, benefiting peer-run organizations and service providers.
